Here's to a new fall

After a very rough/busy weekend I am starting to feel a bit better. Once summer ends you feel like you can get back in shape and do all those things you have let slip by when you trek to the shore - but fall is pretty busy. There are a lot of birthday's in September - we celebrated one last Friday and got home at 4:30am and since we aren't 22 anymore we were still all hurting on Sunday. Sunday's are fast becoming another bad-ish day - we watch football and drink a lot of beers, usually for 8 hours, seriously 8 hours. So all that time we thought we got back with summer ending isn't really back it's just not such a long commute anymore to drink.

Belvedere had blood work done recently and seems like she didn't outgrow the virus like they thought she would so she's still sick. The only thing the doctor could tell me was they don't know what it is and we could run a bunch of tests but there are no cures really. I'm going to do antibiotics for her and hope to have some good years with her.

Match update - texting contact with bachelor #1 - no other prospects at this time.

Here we go again

So with my recent frustration about life and what I'm making of it I have rejoined match....because it worked out so well last time, ummm right. I actually joined for the lamest reason ever - a boy. This guy had one of the funniest intros I've seen and I think we'd mesh in other ways. My experience with match though has not been good - I have met some weird ones and although I did end up with a psuedo-relationship for 2 years in the end it wasn't for me. I get embarassed telling people how we met and first dates are so awkward. So why do it? Because I cannot continue to be all about a person that has given nothing back - it's really a waste of my energy and even I'm tired of hearing me make statements I don't keep.

I'm hoping that this will get me back in the game and if something comes of if great, if not then I'll manage and try not to notice that everyone in my family can get married but me, seriously everyone.

Birthdays, boys & backs

Today is my little brother's bday. He's 29 and already marriend and owns a home - so mature for his age. I however am the older sister and live an apartment with my cat and fish - yeah about that adulthood - not as easy as it looks. I hope he has a fabulous day with lots of presents (card is in the mail) and some cake too!

Don't read further if you are tired of Foreigner stories
UGHHHHHHHH! I should have stuck to my original plan - just been done. Wrapped up summer by moving on. Instead I got really drunk last weekend, made amends and had my fun. Well thanks to the lovely networking site we are all on I can now see he's leaving tomorrow to go on a cruise with a girl - nice. It messes with my head and it's my own fault. He's never made promises or even committed to being my friend most days but still it makes me feel an inch big and I hate that I can be so wrapped up in someone that talks to me once a week, maybe. I'm really one of the dumbest smart girls I know. Here's to new beginnnings and finding a boy who actually likes ME.

On a lighter note, my back feels much better - hopefully it stays better so I can swim out some frustration tonight.

Spinning can be a killer

I thought that after the summer my body would thank me and I would work on getting into shape. However yesterday morning I took a regular spin class and was done by 7am - shower and get ready for work. However somewhere in all that preparation my back flipped out - it started out as an ache and by the time I got to work I was in full on pain. I bought those heated back things and all I got was a warm aloe smelling back - pain getting worse. I tried to function at work but it was so hard to keep focused with shooting pain. I managed to score a last minute massage appointment at EA Red Door and hoped it was the answer to my pain.
I went to the appointment and the massage was awesome as usual however after it was done I went to stand up to get dressed and couldn't move very far, I was in even more pain!
The treck home was not fun - I managed to make it to Port Authority(mapped it after 1.8 miles in pain, smooth Melanie) and board a bus. I even went to the library to return books a million days overdue and then finally came home.
For the past 12 hours I have been attached to a heating pad and watching really bad DVR tv. I don't know what did this but I'm not happy and I can only hope to get better.

Giants!

Last night was opening game for the NFL season. Giants vs. Redskins - and of course Eli(Giants) dominated!! I met a group at Buskers ($2 beers) to watch the game. When I first got there, there were only a few people there and we had 2 tables - it looked like we didn't have friends. Lisa started texting everyone we knew in Hoboken so we could fill the tables - of course no one was around. Then by about 8:30 we had a big group of people since everyone came at once. It was a lot of fun but I think I overestimated my fried food capacity. We ordered nachos, calamari and some friend shrimp things and by 9 I felt horrible. I actually left early! I really don't leave early from football - I can only assume I was poisoned....seriously $2 beers!

Today is Friday and the week actually went pretty fast. I got paid by everyone that owed me money this week so things are going well. If only I could motivate more and get to the freaking gym! I'm going for drinks tonight with a friend but I think I'm gonna bail out early and hit the gym before heading to the shore for the weekend.

Summer is fading fast but I have high hopes for the fall!

The Bus

I am not a fan of buses. I hate driving behind buses because they take so freaking long to get anywhere and make huge turns. However my new job is easier, sorta to get to via bus. So this morning I walked a block to the bus stop and got on a very empty bus. The bus went through town slooooowly, stopping along the various stops until we got to about 11th. Then because no one can follow parking directions the bus was unable to turn up the street since there were cars parked too close to the end of the street. The bus rerouted to 13th and we made our way to the tunnel. It wasn't too bad - a lot of stop and go but I made it into the city in 30 min.

Because I am so directionally challenged Port authority was a bit overwhelming so I just followed the crowd out to 40th & 8th. My work is on 45th east side. I walked across town and up a few blocks - it wasn't bad but Time Square is crazy busy even at 9am.

Overall it took me about 50 min (starbucks stop in TimeSquare was not a good idea) I do like the convenience of not having to walk 10+ blocks up to the path & then 12 blocks to work I don't know if I can do the bus long term.

I think I need to discuss better bus strategy with those that take the bus everyday, I mean I couldn't even find out where to buy a monthly pass and I won't have $2.55 exactly everyday I know it.

Tour of the Shore

I can't believe summer is over!

The past few weeks I have been traveling all over the country for work so I was thrilled to have off on Thursday & Friday last week and with the long weekend that gave me 5 days for fun, sun & beer.

1st up - thursday - Spring Lake. I got in late the night before from Chicago so I didn't make it to SL until Thursday around noon. Beth, Lisa & Laura were already down but when to get pedicures and lunch so I rollerbladed around SL & Belmar it was so nice. We eventually all met up and hit the beach for a few hours before heading back to get ready for some drinking! We assembled a group of 8 people and headed to PH - the Sauer sisters were our guests of honor. We started with a family meal on the deck of PH before heading inside to find a very very empty PH. It was disappointing b/c we wanted Ann & Mary to see how fun PH is, but we regroupede and headed over to Leggets. I was so excited to go to Leggets(which is rare) because it was Thursday = shot wheel night!! Oh wait, holiday weekend no shot wheel. So far the night was not going well - we grabbed some beers and found a place near the bar and sat through easy listening music for the next few hours. Leggett's was ok crowded, not too bad. We saw some people we knew which was fun and Lisa met a boy. He was a nice boy and they did their 8th grade style dancing and smooching. We left Leggett's pretty late considering the bad music - grabbed some pizza and headed home.

Friday - another beautiful beach day. Spent pretty much all of the afternoon on the beach. We headed back where Mark had made a fantastic dinner for our increasingly crowded house - b/c the house is mostly 1/2 shares I didn't know everyone, it was great to meet everyone this weekend. Part of dinner involved Vodka watermelon - good idea in theory - bad idea for Melanie. We took forever to get ready but finally made it to PH - all a bit typsy from the melon. We went in smaller groups but soon enough there were 20 of us from the house plus some outsiders like Rachel & Norell dancing downstairs. Beth has about 110 pictures from that night to prove how fun we were. As PH wrapped up we headed for the cabs to get to Bar A - I really really wanted to go to Bar A to see the band. The cab arrives at Bar A and I promptly fall out of the cab - the driver had to get my shoe from under the cab. We finally get inside and order beers - Beth goes to get food as I do my 2nd jaeger bomb shot. Beth is taking a really long time so I go to look for her - walked the bar twice but couldn't find her - ended up getting some onion rings & decided that I was way too drunk to be out - took cab home myself b/c I couldn't find anyone. I passed out as soon as I got home but there were some stories from the house that night - people sleeping in their cars, some snuggling between friends - aahhh beach house living.

Saturday - Beth, Laura & I packed up and headed to LBI. We arrived at the mansion to find about 20+ people there. We had planned to stay at Beth's parents place w/the mansion as back up - after seeing how crowded the mansion was we really hoped the other place wasn't rented. We spent about an hour watching this really weird mockumentary about hooking up. We ventured to the beach finally and hung there for a few hours and then went over to the other house to find it not rented, with central air & we all got our own rooms! That night we headed over to the Shell to see Hyperactive - another night of drunken dancing ensued - we were celebrating Shelly's bday so there were shots and lots of drinks. I met this lovely couple who started dancing with me and then asked me if I wanted to go home with them (yes, people really will say anything to me) I declined and walked off. Bobby ended up coming to LBI around 1am so he got to take us home. We made it home without incident but ended up staying up drinking/talkikng for a few hours.

Sunday - Beth & I decided we had to take a break from the sun so we stayed inside and watched Heros that I had from Netflix for about 3 hours while Laura & Bobby went to the beach. That night Beth made fantastic dinner before we headed out to happy hour. Happy Hour was so fun - since this was the last night of summer we got to see everyone. The guys had played in the 180 cup beer pong tournament so they were veeeeeeeery drunk. After happy hour we headed out to see Lifespeed at the Marlin - much of this night is blurry & vague for me. I remember a lot of dancing - some running man & the robot were performed. We did no shots though, so we could survive. We finally left at last call and picked up food at the Chegg & got a cab back (15 blocks = $25) and had a mini feast on the deck.

Monday - to celebrate Labor Day we again headed out to the beach.
We hung with the Sauer sisters and Shelly to discuss Shelly's fun evening the night before - and watch Sauer children who were adorable. We left the beach as late as possible to head to dinner before going home. At dinner we found out there was a fatal accident and the parkway was closed, so we headed back to the house to watch Gossip Girl and then leave. Weird show. We finally got home late last night and I'm really tired but it was a great time had by all!

Congrats to the 106 York Ave softball team - they won the game(s)

We have one weekend left and then summer will be over, it's sad but I'm so ready for Football Fall and funday sundays :)
